Jennifer's Cakes and More . . . My name is Jennifer and I live with my wonderful husband of 25 years and our three awesome kids in Harlingen, Texas. We are about 45 minutes from South Padre Island in the beautiful Rio Grande Valley.
I grew up watching my mom decorate cakes. Some of my fondest memories are of sitting around the dining room table watching her make beautiful cakes for our friends and family. I started decorating myself when my oldest son was about to turn two years old and wanted a "Larry Boy" birthday cake. At that time there was nothing available on the market so I jumped in and created his cake myself (continue scrolling down to see a picture of this cake). I enjoyed it so much and from that first cake I was hooked! I've been decorating for friends and family ever since.
In recent years I've taken specialty cake classes with Michelle Bommarito of Food Network Challenge, Dena Bryngelson and Sharon Zambito of TLC's Ultimate Cake-off and Brian Stevens of Cake Boss: Next Great Baker. It's fun learning how to make cakes to look like things other than cake!
My dream is to one day open a shop of my own. Until then, I just enjoy doing cakes, cookies, mints and candies out of my home. I am always happy to share with anyone how I've done a cake, to give some suggestions on how to do a particular cake or to help someone find a cake decorator in their area.
